The Bill (A ’52) & JoAnne Miller Academic Resource Center [MARC] is home of the Loras College Library with an impressive collection of millions of physical and digital resources.

In addition to our broad resource collection, Loras contains a rich heritage in its special collections of rare books, manuscripts, as well as serving as an official publications depository for both the United States government and the State of Iowa. In the Center for Dubuque History located in the lower level, are photographs and historical Dubuque books and other publications. The Bill (A ’52) & JoAnne Miller ARC also houses the  Loras Barnes & Noble Bookstore, the Lynch Learning Center, multiple classrooms, and other student centered academic resources.


Loras College Library


The mission of the Loras College Library is central in supporting student learning and academic success. It provides an extensive collection of print and electronic books, journals, films, and United States and Iowa government publications as well as online access to numerous databases and full-text academic journals. In addition to our broad resource collection, the Library contains a rich heritage in its special collection of rare books, and manuscripts and in the Center for Dubuque History, an archive of historical documents about Dubuque.


Librarians offer individual research assistance and work closely with faculty to teach students the research abilities necessary for intellectual achievement and lifelong learning. The library supports students and faculty as innovators and creators by providing expertise and equipment for digital media projects. The MARC is admired for its architectural design, providing a wide variety of individual study areas and group meeting spaces.


Other services included in the MARC include the Learning Commons (home to the Writing Center and Math Lab), the Lynch Disability Resource and Cultural Center, the Center for Experiential Learning, and the Center for Learning and Teaching. Their location facilitates close collaboration in the support of student learning.
